Fostering and enriching Jewish living throughout Greater New Milford -- through empathy, wisdom, integrity, and partnership.
As a member of the Reform Jewish group of Brandeis Hillel, Barbara served as Friday night service co-ordinator and occasionally led services with her guitar. While attending Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine, she led monthly Reform services at MSU's Hillel House. Barbara practiced veterinary medicine full time for 10 years while living in Wallingford, Connecticut. There, she was active in leading services at Beth Israel synagogue, and songleading at the Waterbury Community Religious School under the leadership of Roz Koch. Barbara rejoined the High Holiday choir at Temple Sholom when she moved back home to Danbury in 1999. She and Jill Weiss were asked by Rabbi Koch (z'l) to take leadership of the choir in 2005 - and they have been a team ever since. Barbara has been leading singing at Friday night services monthly for the last two years, as well as serving as cantorial soloist for the High Holy Days. Barbara teaches biology at Brookfield High School, and works as a relief veterinarian in the summer months. She also sings with Kol Rinah, the Jewish Community Chorale of Westchester, and performs in local community theater. |
